Women’s pullovers and cardigans in the archives sale

You recognise good knitwear by touch, even before putting it on. It is the piece you reach for at the first hint of a chill and keep close until spring, over the back of an office chair or tied around your shoulders at the weekend. In the archives sale, women’s pullovers and cardigans from previous Soeur collections come together at reduced prices, with the qualities that define the house’s knitwear: fine merino wool worn next to the skin, thicker textured knits and shapes designed for layering rather than clinging to the body.

Knitwear, the Soeur way

At Soeur, knitwear is treated as a garment in its own right, not simply a basic. Shoulders are often dropped, the ribbing at cuffs and necklines carefully finished, and lengths considered to fall neatly over high-waisted trousers. Wherever possible, the house favours single-fibre yarns in merino wool or cotton, creating a more even knit that is easier to recycle at the end of its life. The colours follow the house palette: shades of beige, a flecked grey, deep navy and a few pastels according to the season.

From the round-collar pullover to the long cardigan

The round-collar pullover, slightly loose and falling to the hips, is the piece that returns most often from season to season. It slips under a coat for work or is worn on its own at the weekend, tucked into a pleated trousers or worn with jeans. The Cardigan, or wool button-up, plays a different role. Buttoned to the top, it takes the place of a shirt; worn open over a T-shirt, it becomes a light layer for home or the city. Sleeveless pullovers, when available, can be layered over a poplin shirt for a more graphic play of textures.

Caring for knitwear

Wool knitwear lasts longer when washed less often. Airing it after wear, washing it by hand or on a wool cycle according to the care label, then drying it flat is enough to help it keep its shape from season to season. To complete the silhouette, the jackets and coats from the archives sale can be worn over knitwear without flattening its shape.
